Having a Leni Kauffman cover is an absolute dream for most romance authors, and I’ve been sitting on this one for MONTHS frothing over how badly I’ve wanted to share it, so here it is!
Isn’t it pretty??? I could stare at it all day. The colors! His elbow! Her THIGHS!!
Wanna know what the book’s about? I’ve got a blurb:
Reliable, boring Gina Carlson is living a lie. Not only is her engagement to her best friend one of convenience that will allow them to buy Happy Lake Lodge and Campground from his grandmother, but there’s also a teensy-tiny chance she might already be married after a drunken night in Vegas. She doesn’t remember that night—but waking up in a tacky honeymoon suite with a twenty-five-year-old stripper and rings on her finger doesn’t mean they actually got married, right?
Benji Dwyer is sick of being a one-night-only fantasy, even if it comes with the territory of taking his clothes off on stage. The night with Gina was different. What they had was something deeper. That’s why he married her.
So when circumstances (and possibly mafia lackeys) send him on the run, Benji decides to lay low at Happy Lake and see if he and Gina still spark. But Gina doesn’t remember him. Even worse—she’s engaged to someone else. So Benji proposes a deal. He’ll tell her what happened, keep their marriage secret, and give her a divorce—if he can stay for the summer.
Wet Hot Summer is the first book in a new three-book series—Summer Love—and will be out June 9th! It’s a little different—there’s a little bit of an action twist to it.
I’m publishing this one wide, so it will be available most places—it just may take a few days for pre-orders to go live (where pre-orders are allowed). Paperbacks will be available in June. Content notes are up on my website.
If you’re a Kindle Unlimited reader, hold tight for now—once the series is complete, I’ll put the whole thing in KU, hopefully by the end of the year.
Usually I like to end with some book recs or what I’m reading—but let’s be honest, I’m too busy doing my final edits and formatting Wet Hot Summer right now to read anything. So instead, I’m going to talk pre-orders. Pre-orders are lovely for me, but I’m self-published and in no danger of hitting the top 100 in the Amazon store for paid books, or any actual list out there, so really they aren’t any more important than any other sale.
But to traditionally published authors, they are everything—they can help determine how many books get printed and where they get stocked, they can affect marketing and publicity budgets, and probably more things I’m not aware of. And all these things impact how many books that author can sell, which in turn impacts their ability to sell the next book.
Barnes and Noble is having their pre-order sale right now, with 25% off for members, so if you’ve got a favorite trad author that you’d love to show some love, now would be a great time.
Need some recommendations?
The Ripple Effect by Maggie North. Maggie had to drop out of Romance Con, because the US government is encouraging people to report US and CANADIAN doctors who provide gender-affirming care to their patients, and as a doctor who does so, it is no longer safe for her to come. She’s also a phenomenal writer, and the main character of this book, Stellar, is my wife. If you know how much I love McHuge, you’ll know how awesome Stellar is that I love her even more.
I haven’t read the next two, but they are top on my Most Anticipated.
August Lane by Regina Black is everything I want in a romance and I know it will make me feel all the feels, because that’s what Regina does best. She is a top-tier romance author and I can’t wait for this one.
The Princess and the P.I. by Nikki Payne. Just look at that cover. Also, the characters are taking down a shady tech start-up, and I want to read any book where tech bros are taken down. I loved Nikki’s Jane Austen retelling and I’m excited for this romantic suspense.
Saturday is also Indie Bookstore Day, so if you can, go out and support your local Indie bookstore!
Okay, that’s all from me this time! xx
I recognize these names!!!! ❤️ Sarah this sounds amazing and the cover is beautiful!
Truly an amazing cover🤩🤩
